Three things in one session: more time getting comfortable on the Tormek, freehand practice without a jig, and an answer to a question a lot of viewers have been asking.
hello everyone uh Nate here at SimplySharp and today we’re going to try three things um thing number one is we’re going to continue uh working on getting decent with a Tormek thing number two we’re going to be working on our freehand with a Tormek thing number three uh a lot of people have been talking about um they’re moving to a twep progression where they are um basically coming off of like a like a 120 or 180 belt and then going straight to a stop and getting really good results with that uh messed around with it a little bit uh seems to work I have not moved to that for um what we do for our customers but um these are dad’s knives um I’m pretty familiar with them uh this one actually needs a bolster reduction we’re not going to do that today uh we’re only going to try three things at a time not four um and uh yeah let’s let’s see how it goes so I’ve got the um the diamond the coarse diamond on here so this I believe is like 400 grit or something like that I can’t even remember what it comes in at anymore but um let give it oral that’s a little annoying all that water like that I don’t really want to come down there though so maybe we just uh get a little less water going here of course this might be a case why when you uh use the Contraptions the knife is usually like that so the water is not just going to spill all over hell like that dead so maybe we’ll uh we’ll just try this then getting there so everywhere but back here we’ve got a nice Burr everywhere back here also realizing this table it’s a little high HOH okay there we go nice all right so we’ve got a nice nice Edge on there right now just going to flip this around a couple spots still a little pull so we’re going to that feels really sharp um we’ll see see how we did all right that I’m pretty happy with that um tonight dad is making his dinner chicken Karma so he’ll have lots of fun things to cut um so I should be able to have a pretty decent report on how happy he is uh with the performance of that knife but let’s go ahead and get this guy going let’s just actually let’s see where we’re starting from with these guys okay so this one is getting a little gnarly right in there let’s see how we can do yeah it’s always just kind of back here I’m not getting that nice bur to pop up might be for yeah that I mean wow I mean it really it cuts beautifully so uh like I said we will do like real world performance test on it to see um you know you know Dad’s feedback on how it actually works for real um I’ve got some of my own knives that I’ll be doing this too uh so I’ll be able to kind of give you some of just my feedback with uh knives that I’m super familiar with but just on his face I think uh the diamond rough wheel and I would assume this would translate over to the uh the stone wheel that um you know if you grade it course maybe get it to like 400 grit or so um sharpen it and then move to uh the stopping so one thing I didn’t cover maybe this is in some previous videos is this is like a compound wheel that torch made it came with the black edition um and it uh actually the I think it’s the fine diamond wheel also came with the black edition um but yeah both of those are are working great um but this thing is is a pretty amazing Little Wheel uh all right there we go I’ll let you guys know how it went
