hello everyone Nate here at SimplySharp again and um you know I got a lot of questions and and some thoughts and ideas from the um previous post I did on the new Ken Onion Elite Mark 2 uh specifically uh I I liked a lot of it I just did not like this because of the speed of taking the belts on and off um so that’s something I’ll come back to here in a second but uh another thing I was concerned about was a leather belt right so I used these leather belts for the stopping step um I can tell you right now it’s not going to fit with that metal clip on here so we’re going to have to get this thing off um it does come off it’s just a little tight there we go um so now okay so that’s on um looks like we have uh it is touching this back piece back here doesn’t seem that terrible it’ll be interesting to see what happens when it gets some compound on it um but uh all right so now let’s get it off okay so actually is probably the easiest one to take off yet um so all right now um I want to show you something though so just to kind of put some things in perspective because you know I you know I am open to the fact that I will learn to be faster and figure out technique I’m very open to that idea but I just want to show you guys what I used to do with the Mark 1 so I’m sharpening and then uh I’m ready to change a belt like it’s off and the next one’s on and like I mean that thing’s sliding off it has even stopped while I’m taking it off um that’s how fast I can change belts on on the mark one so that’s what’s in my head um now I did uh disassemble this and it actually comes apart pretty easily um there’s only two screws back here okay so um and it is actually easier to get off if that’s in that position so it comes off uh but this the angle indicator comes with it right so uh just taking it off that just looks better right um okay so belt on so you know it’s not flying off like the other one did but that’s quite a lot faster so that’s encouraging um I think that if uh I I so I have a market tomorrow it’s gonna be pouring rain here in Atlanta but hopefully I get a bunch of knives anyways and um I’m just gonna try it as is um because if we we can’t just take this off because you lose the angle setting there um and I actually wind up changing quite bit I get all sorts of crazy stuff at these markets um but uh if it’s really if I can’t just overcome this and getting belts on and off um I think I’m just going to wind up just kind of cutting it from like probably about here down around here and then just probably like back up around these studs and just just be done with it um and we’ll see what happens but before I destroy it uh I do want to give it uh another chance now another thing that happened and I I forgot to mention this in the last video um you might hopefully we can see these these little grooves right here that does not it does not come like this that is not a feature of this thing and it makes it’s actually been making my belt changes worse um what happened is I’m GNA use this belt um when I first got it uh the Work Sharp belts were in the box and I used the p120 I just threw it on there and um uh when it was running the tracking wasn’t right so out of the box the tracking was like something like that you can see how it’s um kind of already off onto the plastic and it was even further over so there we go see it and that was my p120 so it just dug those gouges right in now the challenge and this has been happening to me a lot is I’m going to take it off like and is coming off with it but you’ll see it’s getting caught in those little grooves and that’s making it harder for me to do it so you know yeah it came like that out of the box the tracking was off it only took like a couple seconds as soon as I hit it I knew it was noisy and and there’s a problem um but it already dug those gouges in there um but that’s going to happen like you’re going to you’re going to change an angle change a belt you know something’s going to happen and and the belt’s going to belts are going to e into these things it’s going to make them even harder to to swap in and out so pretty sure I’m going to do the surgery uh but I am going to give them the benefit of the doubts yeah I I’ll gouge down in there and this is just sorry guys this is a bad idea um I don’t want to rain on anyone’s parade over at Work Sharp but this not a good idea um anyways I gonna give it the old College try see if I can get used to it make it work um as designed and um uh before I destroy this and if not I will post a video on whatever hacked solution I wind up coming up with I’m probably just gonna cut that so I can have my little angle guide and be done with it thanks everyone
